Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
