Thomas Tuchel has chosen to retain the same Three Lions selection that triumphed against their previous opponents and produced a stellar display in Belgrade during the previous international break, leaving no room for the Real Madrid star and Phil Foden in his selection for the upcoming exhibition match against Wales and the World Cup qualifier in Latvia.

Although Foden pushing for a recall after regaining his top condition at his club, and Jude Bellingham having made a comeback for his Spanish club following shoulder surgery, the national team manager has decided against selecting two of the nation's biggest offensive stars. The young midfielder has started only once for his club since his return.

Tuchel has made room for the Arsenal winger, who is back to fitness and has been reinstated in place of his unavailable Arsenal teammate the sidelined player. Jack Grealish has not been handed a recall.

The national team coach highlighted the energy in last month's squad and seems intent on maintaining the vibe. The Newcastle defender, who featured at the defensive flank in the 5-0 win in Serbia, has been ruled out due to a knee injury. The manager has not called up a like-for-like substitute for the Newcastle player but has included John Stones, who had to withdraw last month. Tuchel has discussed the Manchester City defender's significance for the national team and has suggested deploying him in the middle of the park.

No spot has been found for Adam Wharton, who was called up in the previous squad but withdrew due to injury and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Tuchel said: “It was only three weeks since the previous gathering and the last win, the last performance, so the question was why not bring the same group in because they established a benchmark. The focus now is on creating habits out of it. We have regrettably a couple of fitness issues at the moment with Livramento and Noni and we welcome of course the Arsenal forward in to replace Noni. The defender was a late call-up previously; he will remain with the squad.”
